About
Hi I am Kath Dare
My jewellery journey began pretty much in 2006, I had decided to make my own wedding dress and part of that crazy ambition was to completely bead the front panel of the halter neck, this may not have been such a bad idea if I didn't have one year old twins and two other children both under seven, but this didn't stop me. The great thing about this process was I needed to go to some fabulous bead shops in Covent Garden and Carnaby Street. I was like a child in a sweet shop with all the beautiful beads. That was it the flame had been ignited; my jewellery journey had begun! As soon as I'd tied the knot I headed back into town, back to the bead shops, Initially just beads but the desire to make silver jewellery propelled me into adult education (as well as a much-needed break from my beautiful boys)
I started at a local adult education centre where I studied City and Guilds level one, then off up to Citylit in Holborn where I did City and Guilds level two and three. I have to confess it was an almighty challenge with my children being so young, but it really did help me to keep sane. All along the way I sold my pieces to be able to buy the next piece of silver, I sold at school fairs, local craft fairs and anywhere I could, I was never fussy, this paid off as I have some lovely loyal customers who stumbled across me in the most unlikely locations.
These days I feel it’s quite tricky to find jewellery pieces that are genuinely soulful, my favourite jewellery to make are pieces that are created specifically for the customer, talking through what would work, should the piece be personalised or even adding birthstones or engraving to really take it to the next level.
I use recycled gold and silver, I strive to be as environmentally friendly as possible. If you have any ideas you would like to bring to life please don't hesitate to get in touch, I look forward to hearing from you soon.
